“If the prudence of reserve and decorum dictates silence in some circumstances, in others prudence of a higher order may justify us in speaking our thoughts.”

CLASS EXPECTATIONS
(1) Arrive to class on time and in a quiet manner, retrieve any necessary materials, and immediately begin the prepared bell work.
(2) Bring necessary materials (organized binder, notebook, and writing instrument) to class every day.
(3) Listen and follow directions the first time.
(4) Raise your hand and do not call out. No side conversations. Wait to be called on before speaking out.
(5) Stay in your seat. You need a teacher’s permission to get out of your seat or move any furniture.
(6) Mr. Oakes reserves the right to move you to a different seat.
(7) There are many supplemental tasks to be done once the central assignments are complete. Thus there is never any time to disengage or “do nothing”. Idleness and doodling is not to be tolerated unless it is earned.
(8) Do not “pack up” until instructed to do so.
(9) No food, gum, drink, or candy.
(10) Clean up after yourself. Before the end of class, tidy the area around your seat and the floor area. Demonstrate your respect for others, yourself, and school by cleaning any mess, not just one you made.
(11) Electronic devices seen or used will be confiscated and returned at the end of the day
(12) Practice kindness. Learn that you get more of what you need and want when you are nice.
